Albania, Life on the Periphery
From 1995 to 2001, an extensive series of black-and-white photographs—at the center of which stood the people and their lives in their personal spheres, their respective immediate environments. While these pictures are "merciless" in the way they lay bare the often squalid living conditions of the Albanian populace, they are also uncompromising in terms of a deep respect for human dignity which, in turn, was shown the photographer in the form of Albanian hospitality.
